How much does it pay to teach English in Spain?

You’ll earn around $1100 – $1400 USD * (1100 – 1400 Euro) per month.

Levels of crime are very low, especially compared to big cities in the US and UK, and public services such as transport are very efficient, modern and safe.

Petty crimes involving pickpockets are common in tourist areas. Use common sense and keep your valuables safe and you’ll be just fine!

What are the authorities like in Spain?

The police in Spain are very kind and helpful. Provided you don’t find yourself on the wrong side of the law, they will treat you with respect and keep you safe.

Petty crimes involving brazen debaucherous behavior are not tolerated and can be dealt with severely.

Do you need a degree to teach English in Spain?

Yes, a degree is required for our Teach English in Spain program.

If you are a non-degree holder please see our Teach English in CambodiaTeach English in Myanmar or Teach English in Japan (Non-Degree) programs.

Do schools in Spain accept Online TEFL/TESOL certificates? If no, Why not?

Online TEFL/TESOL certificates are not generally accepted for most language centers in Barcelona.

We offer an internationally accredited in-country TEFL/TESOL course that thoroughly prepares students for teaching English in Barcelona.

Do schools pay you a fee/portion of my salary? If so, Why?

No, TravelBud and our partners DO NOT receive a portion of the teacher’s monthly salary

Proof of sufficient funds?

Applicants need to have sufficient funds to pay for the program fees and other associated costs of the program as well as to cover the cost of personal living expenses including entertainment.

* For Irish citizens, the startup costs are significantly lower as they are part of the EU.
